About Mike

Experience

Michael is a management and leadership scholar-practitioner and learning and talent development expert. His 25+ years of Fortune 500 experience include management, leadership and organizational development, training and talent development, and building and leading corporate learning functions. Michael worked in the consumer-packaged goods industry for household names such as Gillette, PepsiCo, Georgia-Pacific, and SC Johnson before moving into manufacturing and engineering  with such giants as General Electric and AECOM. Michael got his start as an adjunct professor teaching in the College of Management for Shorter University in 2010. Today, Michael is on the faculty at Dalton State and also serves as an adjunct professor at William Woods University and Bellevue University.

About Michael

Michael values knowledge, and continuous growth and development. His passion for helping others led him to become a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. Michael is a recognized contributor to publications such as Chief Learning Officer magazine and Journal of Global Organizational Effectiveness. He has served as a thought-leader, sharing his ideas as a regular speaker at learning conferences such as Chief Learning Officer, The Masie Conference, Training Magazine, and The Conference Board.

Education

  • Ph.D. in Business Management with a specialization in Leadership Development from Capella University. His Ph.D. thesis explored the relationship between Situational Leadership II behaviors and new employee engagement.

  • Post-Graduate Certificate from The Harvard Business School of Executive Education with an emphasis in Negotiations and Critical Decision Making.

  • Post-Graduate Certificate from The Harvard Kennedy School of Government Executive Education with an emphasis in Leadership Development

Personal

Michael and his wife, Sandy, have five adult children and four grandchildren. When he is not consulting, teaching, researching, or writing, he enjoys reading, golf, scuba diving, and traveling with Sandy and their family.
